A random NHL team generator you can spin
Need a team for a game of NHL 26, a friendly bet, a trivia round or a new club to follow? Press
Spin and this random NHL team generator picks one of 32 teams. The wheel turns, lands on a
team, and shows its logo, division and conference. It is free, runs in your browser, and needs no account.
Spin the whole league, or narrow the NHL team wheel first to the Eastern or Western Conference, or to a single
division. Take each pick off the wheel so nothing repeats, or leave it on and let chance repeat itself.
How to pick a random NHL team
Choose which teams. Leave it on All 32 teams, or pick a conference or division.
Trim the list if you like. Open Choose individual teams to take any team off the wheel.
Press Spin. You can also click or tap the wheel, or press Ctrl (⌘ on a Mac) plus Enter.
Read the result. You get the team, its logo, its division and its conference.
Spin again. Turn on No repeats if you do not want the same team twice.
What is on the NHL wheel
Every one of the 32 NHL franchises has a slice, filled with one of the team’s colors and marked with its logo.
The teams are grouped the way the league groups them: two conferences, each split into two divisions of eight teams.
Eastern Conference (16):
Atlantic, Metropolitan.
Western Conference (16):
Central, Pacific.
The wheel is a quick way to meet the whole league. Alongside the original franchises you will land on newer clubs
such as the Seattle Kraken, the Vegas Golden Knights and the Utah Mammoth, which many people forget to pick.
Spin one conference or division
Under Which teams, choose the Eastern or Western Conference and the NHL wheel holds only those
16 teams. Choose a division, such as the Atlantic or the Pacific, for a wheel of
8, which is handy for a quick rivalry pick. You can choose several at once, for example two
divisions, and the wheel holds both.
To go the other way, open Choose individual teams, search by name and untick the ones you want to
skip. Leaving out your own team or a hated rival is a common use.
No repeats: a different team each time
With No repeats on, each picked team comes off the wheel when you close its result, so a round never
lands on the same team twice. The wheel gets smaller with every spin, and Put picked teams back
starts it over. That makes it easy to hand every player in a group a different team. With it off, every spin is
independent and a team can come up again, which is how random works.
Why spin a wheel instead of just choosing
Left to choose, most people reach for the same few teams, usually their favorite or whoever just won the Cup. A random
NHL team breaks that habit. A video game session gets a fresh matchup, a fan finds out what it is like to follow a
club from the other conference, and a group avoids the argument over who gets the best top line. Because the draw is
fair, nobody can say the choice was rigged, so the wheel settles it calmly.
Is the NHL team randomizer fair?
Yes. When you press Spin, the page asks your browser for a secure random number (crypto.getRandomValues)
and turns it into one team on the wheel without favoring any of them. Each team has the same chance, which is 1 in
32 with all of them on. Last season’s record, the size of the city and the quality of the goaltending do not
change the odds. The result is chosen first, then the wheel is aimed at it, so the animation never changes the
outcome. For the detail, read how WheelSpinny picks.
Random does not mean evenly spread. Spin ten times and you may see the same division three times and an entire
conference not at all. That is normal, and a team is never “due” because it has not come up.
Ideas for using an NHL wheel spin
NHL 26 and other hockey games. Spin for your team, or spin twice for a random matchup with No repeats on.
Fantasy leagues and pick’em pools. Assign a team to each member for a season-long side game, or break a tie.
Arena trips. Spin for a team, then plan a visit to its home rink, one city at a time.
Trivia and quizzes. Ask for the team’s city, arena or division before the result shows it.
Watch parties. Spin to decide whose team to cheer for on game night.
Team challenges. Follow a random team for a month, or work through all 32 one spin at a time.
The list is fixed to the 32 current NHL teams. AHL, junior, college and international teams are not included.
Your chosen teams and No repeats setting are saved in your own browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
Press Share to copy a link to your wheel.
The tool works on phones, tablets and desktop browsers, and with a keyboard. Sound is optional, and a device set to reduce motion skips the long spin.

Random NHL team generator FAQ
What is a random NHL team generator?
A random NHL team generator picks a hockey team by chance so you do not have to choose one yourself. This one is a wheel: it spins, lands on one of 32 teams, and shows the team’s logo, division and conference.
How do I pick a random NHL team?
Press Spin. You can also click or tap the wheel, or press Ctrl (⌘ on a Mac) plus Enter. The wheel turns and lands on a team, and the result shows its logo and where it plays in the league.
What is the NHL team wheel?
The NHL team wheel is a spinning wheel with a team on each slice, filled with that team’s colors and marked with its logo. The team under the pointer when it stops is your pick. You may also see it called an NHL wheel, an NHL team randomizer or a wheel of NHL teams. They all do the same job.
Is the NHL wheel spin free?
Yes. It is free, runs in your browser, and needs no account or install.
Is the team really random, and is it fair?
Yes. The team is drawn the moment you press Spin, using your browser’s secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) with a method that avoids bias. Every team on the wheel has the same chance, which is 1 in 32 with all of them on. Standings, Stanley Cup history and star players make no difference. The animation is aimed at the result and never changes it.
How many teams are on the NHL wheel?
All 32 NHL teams: 16 in the Eastern Conference and 16 in the Western Conference, split into 4 divisions of eight. That includes the Utah Mammoth.
Can I spin for a team from one conference or division?
Yes. Under Which teams, choose the Eastern or Western Conference, or one of the four divisions: Atlantic, Metropolitan, Central or Pacific. You can choose several at once, and All 32 teams puts the full league back.
Can I leave out teams I do not want?
Yes. Open Choose individual teams, search by name, and untick any team to take it off the wheel. Tick it again to put it back. You can start from a division and then trim it by name, which is handy for skipping your own team or a rival.
How do I stop the same team coming up twice?
Switch on No repeats. Each picked team comes off the wheel when you close its result. Press Put picked teams back to restore them. With it off, every spin is independent, so a team can repeat, just as a dice roll can.
Can I use it to pick a team in NHL 26 or another hockey game?
Yes. Spin for your team, or spin twice for a matchup between two random teams. Switch on No repeats for the second spin so you do not play a team against itself. It works for Be a Pro, franchise modes or any hockey game with the full league.
Can I use it for a fantasy league, a pick’em pool or a draft?
Yes, as a tiebreaker or a fun way to assign teams. Spin to give each friend a team for a season-long challenge, or to decide a draft order. It does not know schedules or standings, so it will not tell you which team will win.
Can I use it to choose an NHL team to follow?
As a nudge, yes. Spin, then look up the roster, the schedule and the team’s history. A random pick can introduce you to a team you would not have chosen. It is only a prompt, so keep spinning until one feels right if you like.
Can I use it to choose an arena to visit?
Yes. Spin for a team, then plan a trip to its home arena. Switch on No repeats and work through the league one rink at a time, or limit the wheel to a division to keep trips close together.
Does the wheel show team logos?
Yes. Each slice carries the team’s logo and is filled with one of its colors, and the result shows the logo with the team’s division and conference, such as Pacific Division, Western Conference.
Are AHL, junior, college or international hockey teams on the wheel?
No. The wheel holds the 32 NHL franchises only. For a list of your own, such as AHL, junior or national teams, use the main spin the wheel page and type in your options.
Can I share the wheel I set up?
Yes. Press Share to copy a link to your wheel, including the teams you chose. Your settings are also saved in your own browser, and nothing is sent to a server.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The wheel and controls fit narrow screens and work by touch, on tablets, and on desktop with a keyboard. Sound is optional, and a device set to reduce motion skips the long spin.
